1. Download the installer
2. Quit SportsCode 
3. Follow the installer steps
4. Start SportsCode after the installation is done!
5. Please confirm that the new SportsCode version 8.4.0 is installed by clicking on the SportsCode or SportsCode Gamebreaker menu! (left top)

Release Notes: 

This version contains a fix for the red flashing movies. Under the General section of the preferences are 2 options to turn off hardware acceleration. Tick both of these options to fix this problem. We are working on a better fix and are hoping that Apple will deliver an updated driver for Nvidia graphics cards.

Release notes for SportsCode and SportsCode Gamebreaker version 8.4.0.
Items with an asterisk indicate fixes or updates to both SportsCode and SportsCode Gamebreaker. Otherwise, the fixes or updates only apply to SportsCode.

Fixes:

*Case 595 - Row width changes are not autosaved. Autosave triggers have been increased to include more changes in window appearances and settings such as text note lines.

Case 1136 - Labels duplicated when using hotkey OPTION+U

Case 1158 - Matrix names do not wrap when using the Web export to iPhone. Names are, now, split after 22 characters to a new line.

*Case 1327 - Code buttons would progressively turn more red as they were pressed down. The red outline on the button represents the last button pressed down, this outline was being continually redrawn.

*Case 1437 &1709 - The green size button in the upper left corner of the window does not change the size correctly.

Case 1654 - The letter A cannot be used as a flagging hotkey. Most keys can, now, be used.

Case 1677 - Databasing stacked timelines through the Sorter would cause one of the angles to be stretched over the top of the others.

*Case 1680 - Dragging overlapping instances to another row does not merge the instances correctly, in most cases there are 2 instances that overlap, not one that is merged. Instances, now, merge and duplicate labels are not created if the same labels exist in both instances.

Case 1694 - The matrix window does not respond to window switching hotkey, COMMAND+`

*Case 1700 - Edit row window in timeline is not in the correct place. The edit row window has been updated and now shows more information including number of instances and labels. It, also, has a better tabbing and text input sequence.

Case 1708 - Text labels not displaying correctly in the timeline data ribbon when hovering over an instance.

*Case 1725 - The Find window does not clear the previous results when changing modes from instances, text or find & replace.

*Case 1726 - The recent search does not save all the searches in the Find window.

Case 1754 - Picture slides with the duration of 0.10 seconds do not work in the movie organiser.

*Case 1767 - The green & red indicator in the timeline time ruler during capture does not appear when append capture is used.

Case 1759 - Find does not play instances when found in a Sorter or Movie Organiser.

Case 1761 - Label group text input in the edit button property window not updating when changing from code to label.

*Case 1769 - Movies with a semi-colon do not link to a timeline and create package correctly. iMovie creates movie names with the semi-colon, so to help this, now, the "illegal" characters are changed to underscores.

*Case 1766 - Extra compression would overwrite existing package if the same name was used again. If appending capture and the extra package exists then the export will be append, if just capturing and the extra package exists it will be given a different name e.g. MyCapture-extra(2).

Case 1792 - Instance movies would continually appear smaller and smaller when being made from movie organiser.

Case 1802 - Instances without a label are being counted in the matrix correctly.

Case 1803 - Matrix not updating when time selectors moved off of furthest left and right hand sides of the dynamic matrix timeline.

Case 1813 - Closing the matrix with the dynamic time markers set, leaves the timeline with the mask indicating the time range. The timeline view is, now, refreshed properly.

Case 1822 - Adding a flag hotkey to the Commando Remote preferences results in a message "The key combination is already in use." even though it is not in use.

Case 1824 - Holding down OPTION and pressing the movie button does not make a movie without the overlay text in the Sorter. This, now, works correctly and COMMAND has been added to make a movie from the selected rows in the Sorter.

*Case 1831 - The drawing toolbar would disappear after connecting to a projector.

Case 1835 - The matrix exports will not start exporting when instances without labels are coded. The matrix, now, exports in all situations.

Case 1845 - Labels with a hyphen (-) at the beginning of the name do not appear in the matrix Add menus.

Case 1855 - SC Introduction window 4.0 file not being written correctly when operating system is Japanese, Chinese or Korean.

*Case 1860 - Instance being coded accurately to the frame when the timeline was fully zoomed in, appeared not be coded accurately.

*Case 1863 - "Make a movie from a folder of movies" does not work with movies that have the extension .mp4.

Case 1882 - Movie Organizer Title Slide Overlay. The title is now its chapter without overlay text data over the top.

Case 1908 - Flagging hang after reboot has been fixed.

*Case 1928 & 1238 - Two related bugs fixed in capture window. Case 1928 relates to capture package being left corrupt when a tape hits the end and the camera stops. Case 1238 relates to starting capture prior to pressing play on the camera.

*Case 1940 - Flattening hinted extra compression packages after capture. Using the flatten option for an extra compression will create a file that is ready to be used in Sportstec Stream.

Case 1975 - Activation link firing problem. Multiple text labels were not being fired off in certain configurations.

All imports checked and updated.

Capture bug where codec was not being selected correctly by the software. If the user chose H.264, sometimes, device native was being chosen. This has been fixed.

What's new:
New Row + Hold down the option key and click 'New Row +' to create a row with instances without merging.  If there are too many instances overlapping in a collection of instances, then merging may still occur for this collection. 

*Reference movie exporter... feature exports selected instances from a timeline as references to a selected folder. The movie names are: CODE_ID#_ LABELS.mov. The file name can be no longer than 255, so some labels will be cut off.

Flagging graphic has been updated to include the color of the flag.

*General preferences panel:
*"Disable movie hardware acceleration during capture". During capture, this stops a bug produced in 10.6.5 release where movie windows will have red flashing effects obscuring the video.

*"Always disable movie hardware acceleration". At all times while the software is running, this stops a bug produced in 10.6.5 release where movie windows will have red flashing effects obscuring the video.

*These two preferences produce ~10% percent increased cpu usage. Apple has been notified of this bug and it is likely it will be fixed in the coming months. Until now, this preference can be used.

"Auto save spreadsheet" Selecting this option will auto save spreadsheets: sorters and statistical window. The file will be saved every 10 seconds as changes are made. Also, backup files are made inside in the spreadsheet package. The backup files will have a date stamp in the name and be dragged out of the package and opened.

"Number of spreadsheet backups". This preference is the number of backup files that created. The default is 10, when 10 backup files are made, the oldest one will be removed, like a conveyor belt.

*Edit instance movie trimming:
New features have been added to the edit instance movie.
1. CTRL+I will set the start time for the selected instance according to the location of the playhead in the edit instance movie window.
2. CTRL+O will set the end time for the selected instance according to the location of the playhead in the edit instance movie window.
3. CTRL+T will set either the start time or the end time according to the location of the playhead. If the playhead is before the midpoint of the clip, pressing CTRL+T will set the start time. If the playhead is after the midpoint of the clip, pressing CTRL+T will set the end time.
4. SHIFT+CTRL+I will subtract 0.5 seconds from the start time of the instance. (Subtracting makes the start time earlier, thus making the instance longer)
5. SHIFT+CTRL+O will add 0.5 seconds to the end time of the instance, making the instance longer.
6. SHIFT+CTRL+T will subtract 0.5 seconds from the start time if the playhead is closer to the start of the instance. If the playhead is closer to the end time, 0.5 seconds will be added to the end time.

Pressing back arrow at the start of the edit instance window shifts the edit instance to the previous row in the sorter. This is a wrapping type of behaviour.

Sorter Window
Position button has 4 new positions for the edit instance movie and sorter window. Press the position 4 times. The position button was moved to left side of the toolbar to make sure it is not obscured in certain window positions.

If the sorter is the key window, the arrows control the movie functions. If the edit instance movies is open, the mouse must be used to position the cursor.

When text is being edited, then tabbing to next row, the selection point is set to the end of the text in the same cell and column column.
 
If an instance movie is created from the sorter, clicking in a row in the sorter shifts the movie controller in this movie to the start time of the movie reference for the row clicked in the sorter.
